OCTOBER CHEROKEE COUNTY is acrylic on a 24 x 24 x 1.5 canvas.

This is my first canvas started and completed in 2014.   I think I am going to like this one. A little bit of Gerhard Richter and a lot of James Haddock. I saw some of Gerhard’s original paintings this past summer in Austria and I am very impressed with his simplicity.  Just finished some tweaking and added some collage.  The title is very personal for me. Those of you who know me will understand the title.

Blue Sky Big Thompson Canyon

2013-11-27 10.37.40-2

“Blue Sky Big Thompson Canyon” is an 8 x 10 acrylic painting on plexiglass. (A continuation of my plexiglass series.)

The horizontal lines at the top of the painting reminds me of the mountain range in Big Thompson Canyon and the downward line is a reminder of Big Thompson River that runs through the canyon.  The blue at the top is the color you see as you look above the mountains.

A visit to the Rocky Mountains in the Autumn is absolutely wonderful.  My inspiration for my canvasses usually come from the things I see in nature.   In this case the inspiration is from the Aspens that I see in the Rocky Mountain National Park.  Thus the name CRESTED BUTTE ASPEN.  This acrylic mixed media painting is on a 30 x 40 gallery wrapped canvas.  It has lots of texture, charcoal and acrylic paints.
